Schattdecor (pronounced shot-dcor) is the global market-leader in the printed decorative paper industry. Images of wood, stone, solid-color or fantasy designs are printed on large rolls of paper and then sold to the furniture industry. They cover it with a laminate and attach it to a hard surface to be used in kitchen cabinets, counter tops, closet systems and laminate flooring (think IKEA). Job Description

The employee in this position safely maintains printing presses and related equipment, and building systems which involve pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical components. Evaluates problematic systems or facilities, to determine the installation or repair service that needs to be performed. Responsible for routine handy-man repair throughout facility. Keeps regular maintenance schedules and documents in computer system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Executes work activities of maintenance department including but not limited to:
    • Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs problems with production printing press machinery and related equipment such as balers, heating presses, mixers, power washers, air compressors and various pumps and motors. This requires mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair, basic understanding of electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics, welding and fabrication, reading blueprints and schematics.
    • Recognizes and takes steps to resolve production operating problems in order to minimize their impact on productivity.
    • Maintains various areas of the facility, including wastewater treatment plant, sprinkler systems, and general building repairs including small dry wall, carpentry, shelving assembly, painting, etc. as needed.
    • Occasional TIG and MIG welding.
  • Cooperates with and services all departments to ensure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times.
  • Understands and follows company policies consistently and keeps Maintenance Manager informed on operating and/or employee problems which may require their attention or knowledge.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed when equipment breaks down unexpectedly and to maintain production machines when not in use (typical workweek is 40-48 hours).
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work 8 - 10 hour shifts (usually 40-48 hour weeks) on a regularly scheduled basis in which standing, kneeling, climbing and walking are required.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects occasionally weighing up to 50 pounds, 100 with assistance.
  • Safety sensitive position requiring focused work in all plant areas and outside the plant which can include heights up to 40 feet, working on ladders or lifts, confined spaces and catwalks.
  • Very clean working environment with short term exposure to heat and cold, humidity, fumes, gases, odors and dust.
  • Work around moving machinery which could be electrically and mechanically hazardous.
  • Wearing required PPE including but not limited to: safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, steel-toed shoes, etc. supplied by the company.
  • Solutions orientated, with end result being visually appealing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proficient communicator, both oral and in writing.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to access, follow, and report on computer maintenance system and procedure requirements.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting on single and three phase systems.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Two-year technical certificate in a related field and electro-mechanical maintenance experience of 3-5 years preferred OR a combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job levels as described. Microsoft Office suite and SAP experience preferred. Also desired is knowledge of preventative maintenance practices, plant operations and government safety regulations.

PAY RATE:  Hourly, flexible based upon experience + competitive benefits
